Temporary Enhanced Mental Health Benefits Extended to All Part-time/Casual Staff

We have received tremendous feedback from our full-time team members on the temporary enhanced mental health benefits that we introduced in April this year.  We also have heard some personal stories from staff on their journeys and how mental health has affected both themselves and their families.  We appreciate that these unprecedented times can be incredibly difficult and therefore we have decided to expand our coverage of these temporary benefits to all part-time and casual staff.  Coverage will be from July 1, 2021 to September 30, 2021. 

As we do not have any dependent information for our part-time and casual team members in our system, we will be developing an enrollment process for staff who are interested in signing up for these temporary benefits.  Please look for information in the next few days on how you can sign up for these benefits. You will however be reimbursed through Manulife for any claims between July 1, 2021 to September 30, 2021 for any reasonable and customary amounts up to a maximum of $1,500 for yourself and/or per dependent. 

Other options already available to you including:

  • the regular EFAP;
  • the Trauma and Depression Care programs;
  • the CMHA here4healthcare; or,
  • our Spiritual & Religious Care practitioners.

Update: Enrollment process

As a follow-up to the below email from Jennifer O’Brien, VP, People, Communications & Engagement, this email serves as clarification regarding the enrollment process for eligible staff and their dependants wishing to access the temporary mental health coverage though Manulife.

Please be advised that all part-time, casual, and temporary staff will be automatically enrolled/setup with Manulife within the next 2-3 weeks with single mental health coverage (for themselves only). Those wishing to add/enroll their eligible dependents (spouse and dependent children only) are required to respond to Ivana Bilicic (ivana.bilicic@grhosp.on.ca) by completing the below table by July 26, 2021.  NOTE: In order to be eligible, dependent children must be under the age of 21 or, if enrolled full-time in a post-secondary program, under the age of 25.

Please be advised that, although the temporary mental health coverage came into effect for part-time, casual, and contract staff on July 1, 2021, Manulife has advised that it can take 3-6 weeks in order to make the required system updates and enroll staff. We have asked that this process be expedited. As soon as we hear that all required updates and enrollments have been completed, we will send a communication to let you know. Once implemented, you will be able to submit your claims and be reimbursed for eligible services provided on or after July 1, 2021.
